At an adjustment interview yesterday in San Jose, our client who is here without any immigration status was asked whether he drove to the interview that day without a driver's license. Luckily, he had one, but we have plenty of clients going to adjustment interviews who do not have valid licenses. Now we have another reason to drive our clients to appointments and hearings. We often do that anyway just to make sure they get there on time and to alleviate anxiousness, but now we know that it can also avoid what would, at best, be an uncomfortable conversation with an immigration officer at an interview!
